Meghan Price: Solo Exhibition
Meghan Price's expansive practice is centred around textiles and employs material, pattern and duration to engage questions about time, perspective and human relationships with the earth. In this solo exhibition, Price presents a new series of woven silhouettes based on textile artifacts, as an inquiry into the historical context of the medium and our collective fascination with the archival of select objects. In this new body of work, the artist incorporates found plastics and waste materials to continue her exploration into environment consciousness.
Through a convergence of cultures, materials and timescales, the artist's newest body of work will be exhibited with a selection of earlier sculptural pieces to evoke conversations between both practices.
Price has exhibited and held residencies across Canada and internationally. Recent exhibition sites include Fiberspace (Stockholm), The Centre for Craft Creativity and Design (Asheville), YYZ (Toronto), The Bonavista Biennale (Bonavista Peninsula, NL), Centre Matéria (Québec) and AKA artist-run (Saskatoon). Her work is in the Idea Exchange contemporary textile collection and in the corporate collections of Aimia, Canada Goose and RBC. In addition to maintaining a solo studio practice, under Price/Nacha, Price produces collaborative works with artist Suzanne Nacha. Price lives and works in Montreal, QC.
