United Contemporary, established in 2018, is a contemporary art gallery in Toronto’s West End. Our gallery is inspired and guided by the ethos behind United Artists, the film studio premised on allowing artists to better control their own creative work. As such, United Contemporary is a dynamic space created to support the visions of our artists, and reflect the ever-evolving shape of contemporary art.
Gallery Founder and Creative Director Burke Paterson has been curating and producing art exhibitions for over 25 years in a variety of venues in Toronto and New York. He is a practising artist with an MFA from SUNY at Buffalo, and a BFA from Queen’s University.
Gallery Director Melanie Trojkovic has a Masters in Art Curatorship from the University of Melbourne, and over ten years of experience working in the contemporary art industry, both locally, and internationally. Mel draws inspiration from the artists she works with, while connecting and engaging with their audiences to grow and diversify their collections. Acting as an art mediator is central to Melanie’s curatorial practice.
United Contemporary is a proud member of L'Association des galeries d'art contemporain (AGAC).
