Curated by Rebecca Travis, Grandmother: Nonna; Setsuné; Ahma; Madar joon; Baachan; Po po features the dynamic practices of Franco Deleo, Jake Kimble, Karen Kar Yen Law, Marzieh Miri, Emma Nishimura, and Gloria Wong.

This exhibition brings together six artists whose works actively draw inspiration, source material, and intergenerational teachings from their grandmothers. Through photography, printmaking, and video, they share and honour the impact of these family matriarchs in their creative practices, working with reverence, humour, and contemplation to bring focus to the influence and stories of this generation. Themes of cultural lineage, inherited practices, and a focus upon home spaces are woven throughout this gathering of work, while the exhibition title draws from each artist’s familial term for “grandmother”.
