This woven work borrows the domestic hallway rug format and references the checkered rulers photographed alongside scientific specimens and archaeological artifacts. It conflates the domestic and scientific and employs forced perspective to formally express ideas about the role human perspective plays in our regard for the earth. -Meghan Price

The Long Now is named after The Long Now Foundation, a cultural institution developed to foster long term thinking. The name was coined by Brian Eno, one of the organization’s founding board members.

United Contemporary acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present, and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of the lands upon which we operate, which is the traditional territory of multiple indigenous nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, the Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat peoples, as well as many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island. We recognize their enduring presence and deep connection to this land, and we are grateful for their ongoing custodianship and care of this territory.
