Ben Walmsley (b. 1960) is a Toronto-based artist. His work brings an “understated wit and technical precision” to a broad range of subject matter that is united in an ongoing exploration of the role of colour in representational painting. Since 1983, he has exhibited in galleries and museums across Canada, and has been represented by some of the most respected commercial galleries in Toronto. His paintings are in numerous public, corporate and private collections in Canada and abroad, including the Canada Council Art Bank in Ottawa, the Art Gallery of Guelph, the Oakville Galleries, Tory’s LLP, Genest Murray LLP, McCarthy Tétreault LLP, London Life and Sun Life. He has been awarded multiple arts grants from the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council.
